Contrarily, frozen or sticky bearings are very, very bad.
Nowhere is it documented that tonearm bearings with play sound bad or are out of adjustment. I've also seen a lot more Rega/Lustre 'S'-shaped arms which had 'some play' too every one of them! My point is if the human hand can feel 'some play' it doesn't mean it's a bad thing. I've seen about twenty examples, half on LP12s, half on old Planar 3s (before Regas own arms became standard). It is a budget arm with 'no user adjustments or serviceable parts'.What do you mean by 'some play' (I bolded it above)? When I first started working on Linn and Rega turntables in the early 1980s, every LVV I saw back then had play in the bearings! Does someone have service manual for LVV or tips how to disassemble it? First of all, there is no service manual for this arm.
